Great post Diana! I’m a smoker (trying to cut down/quit) and think this is a great idea. Everyone can benefit from this new law. Keep up the good work.

I am a liberterian.I believe in freedom. If a bar owner or restaurant owner wants to ban smoking in their business then that is their right. On the other hand ,public areas that are outside is a diferent story.I know the arguments about secondhand smoke but I also know that these arguments are unproven in medical studies. The Nanny State that legislates personal behavior is a slippery slope.Perhaps nondrinkers would like alcohol to be banned.Perhaps healthnuts would like fatty high calorie food like burgers and fries banned.Perhaps environmentalist would like SUV,s banned.I could go on but think about this. When a child is born they are started on a series of shots. These shots have a preservative in them that is made from mercury.Mercury is one of the most toxic substances on earth.Flu shots are the same.Look at howmany children are on Ritalin or Prozac which has been shown to stunt growth, cause seizures, damage heart tissue and cause suicidal thoughts.Look at the tap water we drink with chlorine and fluoride added to it and hundreds of other chemicals and toxins.Everywhere you go are people with cellphones stuck to the side of their heads.Medical research in Europe has shown this to cause tumors after 10 years.Mouthwash has alcohol that can cause cancer.Shampoo and toothpaste has sodium lauryl sulfate[engine degreaser]in it.Bodylotion has propylene glycol[antifreeze]in it.I could go on and on and on.This is why I am against government legislating personal behavior.I believe that anyone who relies on the Nanny State to keep them or their children safe and healthy is a fool.It is a persons responsibility to know or find out about what you eat or drink or breath, not to mention if you have children. So after you have had your shots as a child and taken your Zoloft and drank thousands of gallons of fluoridated water and washed your body with engine degreaser and brushed your teeth with rat poison and put on your deodorant with aluminum sulfate,I guess you would hate to go out on the beach and get a whiff of someones deadly tobacco smoke.Research these things and see for yourself.Dont rely on a city council or the FDA or the EPA or anyone else to decide what is safe or unsafe for you or your family. It is much to important.WHEN IT COMES TO YOU OR THE DOLLAR THE DOLLAR WINS EVERY TIME!
