Myrtle Beach Green Building Expo

The Horry-Georgetown Homebuilder’s Association is having its annual green building expo today through Wednesday at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center.  Speakers, green products, and environmentally conscious builders will be presenting their wares and latest ideas.

I would love to have this beautifully written piece about the environment and waxing eloquent about all we can do, but alas, it would never get written.  So, instead, here are some interesting pro-earth resources I’ve ran across lately, a few thanks to my fiends at Natural Awakenings magazine.

Local Carolina Food– where to go and how to get involved in local produce

Ovis Hill Farm– for us local residents we have a great organic farmer who delivers most everything a healthy body needs

Big Green Purse– how one consumer at a time can make a healthy difference globally by what you buy

Organic Info- European Union– what Europe knows that the U.S. hasn’t learned

River Keepers– keeping the water clean and always needing help to do so

Peace-

Diana

Hard Rock- Soft Open

Is this some strange proverb? No, the Hard Rock Park had a “soft” opening on Tuesday.  I have yet to go, but went on an unofficial backstage tour last week, and it is so awesome!  The look and feel of the place is fun and edgy– it’s no Disney World.  My first clue was the poster outside the Hard Candy store of a chic with nothing on but lollipops.

The Led Zeppelin and Life in the Fast Lane coasters took their first riders with front seats going to the highest bidders on eBay.  The $6,000 raised went to CEO Steve Goodwin’s late wife’s charity the Sarah Goodwin Foundation.

I live barely five minutes from the park and heard fireworks as I was tucking Lawson into bed. No screams from the roller coaster, just a few muffled booms.  I can live with that easily.  We already could hear the fireworks from Broadway at the Beach once in awhile anyway.

This is Disney World thirty years ago, and I am glad I have a house in such a prime location and I didn’t pay Disney World price.  With the opening of the Hard Rock and the  Market Common city center, Myrtle Beach has more than ever to offer residents and visitors.

Deal of the Week!

little riverThere exactly 5,600 3 bedroom homes available to buy in the Myrtle Beach area as of today.  Interestingly, there are 560 homes under contract.  Hmmm, I think that means there’s a lot to choose from here!

The house pictured is one that I just successfully negotiated for my buyers.  It is in an incredible community, Sunset Harbour, in North Myrtle Beach.  This house is surrounded by million-dollar homes and looks at the Intracoastal Waterway.  My buyers got an absolutely phenomenal deal, and you’ll need to stay tuned until it closes to find out just how good of a deal!
